About

Where it started

Way back in the early 2000s I worked for the family business and built a little website. Nothing fancy—just clean, clear, and easy to navigate.

It landed on Google and got found. Suddenly the word had changed and we had enquiries arriving from global brand names: Ikea, Rolls Royce, British Aerospace and many many more.

I was hooked. Not just on the new business being generated, but on how these companies had found us—and what made them pick up the phone once they did.

That's when I realised a website isn't just a brochure. It's a business tool. The right approach guides people effortlessly from curiosity to enquiry. The wrong one loses them in seconds.

From there…

Over 25 years, I climbed the ladder to director-level roles, led teams, sat around boardroom tables and helped build businesses worth tens of millions.

I've been there, done it, scaled it, and got the t-shirt.

I also built my own ventures along the way—including an e-commerce business where every marketing decision came out of my own pocket. I obsessed over every click, every page layout, every user journey—because it was my money on the line.

That's where you really learn what works.

What I kept seeing

In the corporate world, larger companies had access to serious marketing leadership. Proper strategy. Clear direction. Someone senior joining the dots and making decisions.

But owner-run businesses? They were stuck choosing between expensive agencies that treated them as an afterthought, or trying to figure it out themselves on top of running everything else.

It frustrated me. Brilliant businesses—the ones actually doing the work, serving their customers, building something real—were being left behind. Not because they lacked ambition, but because nobody was giving them the attention they deserved.

I knew the strategies worked. I'd seen them deliver at scale. But these businesses didn't need a big agency.

They needed someone senior in their corner - a trusted partner to work as their marketing director.

The Leap

I left the corporate world and started Midlands Digital from my home in Malvern, Worcestershire.

My focus was and is to this day very simple - To give owner-run businesses access to the same strategic marketing thinking that larger companies take for granted—without the complexity, the overhead, or the inflated costs.

How I work

I work with a small number of clients as their outsourced marketing partner. Think of it as having a specialist didgtl sales and marketing director on your team—without the £60k+ salary.

I'll look at what you've got in place, tell you what's working and what isn't, and build a strategy that actually makes sense for your business. Then I'll either deliver it myself or direct whoever you've got internally to get it done properly.

Websites, SEO, content, Google services, paid advertising—I handle all of it. But more importantly, I bring real-world experience with the joined-up thinking that ties it together.

No jargon. No fluff. Just straight talk, guidance and delivery on what needs to happen and the accountability to make sure it does.

Beyond the work

My approach extends beyond just delivering services and I'm committed to building genuine, long-term partnerships with my clients—not just delivering a service and disappearing.

And success isn't just about profit. Each quarter, I provide a complete website build for a local charity or community organisation that needs digital support but lacks the resources to invest in it.

I'm also fully committed to educating micro business owners via my free newsletter which gives practical, no-jargon digital growth optimisation tactics for those who want results, not buzzwords.

My clients are predominantly UK based SMEs and I am based centrally in Malvern with my wife Jess, our two dogs Travis and Vera, and our lovely old cat Ginny – who spends most of her time on my desk watching me type (as she is right now).
